2011 Land Rover LR4 Base

2011 Land Rover LR4 Base

First Look: The Land Rover LR4 and Range Rover Sport are very similar vehicles and share some of the same mechanical systems. Even though the LR4's wheelbase is more than five inches longer than the Sport's, it is only two inches longer overall. Land Rover took the LR3 and did a huge makeover when it introduced the LR4 in 2010.

Interior Features:
Land Rover took the LR4 and completely redesigned and upgraded the interior for the 2010 model year. The plush cockpit of the LR4 leaves little to be desired. Everything was changed to reflect the

Options and Features:
For 2011, the Land Rover LR4 has been upgraded with additional technology to further increase off-road capability and also new technology to enhance safety. The new technology is showcased in the new optional surround camera system.

Mechanical Performance:
The Land Rover LR4 comes with a 5.0-liter V-8 that makes 375 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. This is the engine Jaguar uses but with a slightly different design that has been changed for the LR4’s off-road capabilities.

Weekly Summary:
The LR4 is a mid-size luxury sport utility and wears the Discovery 4 badge in the rest of the world. Its main competition in this class includes the Audi Q5, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLK, and the Acura MDX. The 5.0-liter V-8 offers plenty of power and torque for all driving situations, but the downside is the need for premium fuel and gas mileage is low because of the LR4's.

Off-Road Performance: While most LR4 owners will never take their all-wheel drive vehicle off-road, it is one of the most highly capable vehicles built to go off pavement. The limitations that will be experienced while taking the LR4 off-road will be more driver imposed due to fear of ending up at the bottom of a cliff rather than the LR4 not being able to navigate the situation.
